What’s a stock market?

The stock market is a place where the confrontation of supply and demand for financial securities is organised. It gives private and public companies as well as the State the possibility of finding financing from private and institutional investors.

The determinants of stock market prices

The market value of a security represents the expected return that this security will generate. Many other factors can nevertheless influence prices (i.e. prices), such as herd behavior or speculative booms.

Stock market volume: definition

Every transaction, every exchange between supply and demand for a security, whether it is a stock, a bond, a futures contract, an option or any other financial product . It comes in the form of both new price and additional volume.

Thus, in the case of a share, the trading volume during a day corresponds to the number of securities of this share that were traded between the opening and the closing of the trading session.

All financial assets traded on a stock exchange or over the counter have volumes.
